With mat leave coming to an end, I can feel my anxiety creeping up on me. I don’t know if I am ready to go back… or if I even want to go back! I really wanted to share with all the new parents out there what I went through my first week back to work.
Looking back on the past seven months, I’ve had to face some truths about myself. In more ways than one I am extremely blessed. Lucky. Fortunate. The human body is such a miracle and the changes that a woman’s body instinctively makes to support new life is nothing short of incredible. So I confess. I […]
For me, the journey to motherhood has been exciting, rewarding, stressful, fun, and downright hard work. My whole life seems to centre around this tiny person that captures my every thought and my entire heart. It’s hard to describe what pregnancy feels like for a first-time-mom. And if you’re anything like me you obsessively track […]
Last year was quite a whirl wind, and when it ended I was completely relieved. From starting my career, the birth of our son, getting our older kids into sports and even seeing our oldest graduate from high school, the year was definitely NOT short on life changing and exciting events. My biggest struggle getting […]
After a much needed move clear across the country, just over a year of settling into our new Albertan lifestyle, and finally finding a design related job that I could see myself advancing in, life took a sudden and sharp, hard left.
SURPRISE!!! YOUR PREGNANT!!!
All of that energy that would be expended by them was absorbed by me and I would be on overload, wanting to, rather needing to shut down. I realized it was making me a cranky, less attentive and frustrated mom…So I took drastic measures and ran away!
When I had my first, Ms. Aly, I wanted to buy every gadget and gizmo there was available. Unfortunately I wasn’t financially able to give into my wants so we got by with the minimum and I mean bare minimum! Baby number two was a bit more fortunate and I was gifted some baby tech […]
Here is a cute DIY for the sewing moms out there! These little elf slippers are fairly easy to make, I’d say a novice could accomplish these slippers as long you take your time and follow the instructions carefully. You can give these slippers as a stocking stuffer gift for anyone in your family, or […]
Is your little one fighting daytime sleep? Mine did for sure! He would only take naps if he was bounced, while being held in the football hold, and I or my hubby was walking…and walking… and walking! That’s a lot of hoops to jump through for a nap.
What I’m about to share with you saved me from giving up on breastfeeding. If you are struggling with getting your baby to latch on this could be just about the only latch advice you will need. Here goes!
Gentle sleep training is probably the easiest emotionally to do. Sometimes I find it very painful to listen to my little guy cry because he cries with such intensity. However, it does takes the most energy/effort, and could take baby anywhere from 5 mins to 2 hours to fall asleep. Here’s what I did: Day 1-3: […]
Mr. Grey turning 4 months couldn’t come fast enough. He had a bed time routine that was working well for us but I was soooo excited when he finally reached 4 months old, sleep training age!!! *If your little one isn’t quite at that age yet but you want to get a head start on sleep […]
The best way to start sleep training your little one is to first understand how much sleep they actually need and then create a routine.
The “Check up” method of sleep training was a good medium for me. I didn’t feel like I was ‘abandoning him in his time of need’ like most moms feel when they let there baby cry.
It was the pain! I couldn’t understand how anyone could do that to themselves even though the nurses would tell me the pain would go away, I was not convinced. So with baby number 3, my 3rd and final, I was determined to make it happen.
