Burp cloths are one of the essentials when you have a new baby. I can’t keep track of the number of times I have tossed my little one over my shoulder and without fail… he spews! (I still haven’t learned my lesson yet!)
The best part about making a DIY burp cloth besides it being one of the simplest things to make, is that you can make it out of just about any absorbent fabric! I like to up cycle xl t-shirts and make matching bandana style dribble bibs! So, let’s jump right in!
For this project you will need:
- absorbent fabric (I like to use t-shirt/jersey knit and flannel)
- free burp cloth pattern
- scissors or rotary cutter
- sewing machine
Print the pattern making sure not to scale it.
Fold your fabric so it is just wide enough for the pattern. Trace the pattern on your t-shirt and flannel then cut it out.
With right sides of the 2 fabrics facing each other, start sewing using a 1/4in. seam (already in pattern). Stop sewing about 2in from where you started.
Flip the burp cloth right sides out
Fold in the opening and top stitch all the way around, closing up the opening.
You’re Done!! Admire your awesome handy work and whip up a bunch more!!
Don’t forget to comment! I’d love to see your creations!
